Oh, My Home Spa day...

Oh, My Home Spa day...

Without a doubt, the week has come to an end. Our legs (mind and soul) need a little bit of rest, love, and care.

Lipoedema Skin is very sensitive and needs a lot of extra care to be moisturised, smooth, and healthy.

Avoid using cosmetics containing perfumes, parabens, aluminium, SLS, or other inorganic ingredients.

You can pop into your kitchen and create your own homemade beauty treats.

Legs Scrub:

  • 4 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon avocado
  • 2 teaspoons Himalayan salt
  • 1 tablespoon fresh grapefruit juice

Foot scrub:

  • 2 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 2 teaspoons of coffee grounds (coffee waste) with cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

With Lipoedema, swelling may stretch the skin, causing pain and damaging the nerves. Compression and careful pump treatment usually reduce pain and touch sensitivity.

A warm bath with magnesium flakes, Epsom salts, or Dead Sea salts can relax your muscles, treat skin conditions, and replace the body's magnesium levels. Low levels of this mineral have been linked to an increased risk of depression, as it is essential for brain function and mood.

Why not try some bath aromatherapy for a genuinely relaxing and skin-supporting experience? The muscles relax in the warmth, but the skin's pores also open.

Mix 20 ml of base oil with 5 to 10 drops of essential oils:

My favourite base oils are sweet almond and jojoba oils.

Sweet almond oil is light in texture, and can easily penetrate the skin. Full of vitamins A and E and an extremely potent antioxidant that will keep your skin cells healthy.

Jojoba oil works as a protector and cleanser. It also contains vitamin E, B-complex vitamins, zinc, and copper, as well as anti-inflammatory and healing properties.

Grapefruit essential oil can help with your skin condition. It clears cellulite, helps reduce water retention in the body, and boosts your mood.

Spiritual sandalwood oil can heal dry skin and support anti-inflammation and redness. In addition, it makes your skin bright and clean.

Lavender essential oil can calm you down and is beneficial for healing burns and treating scars.

What about the atmosphere during relaxation?

When I light the candles, I love the sound when the flame's heat melts the wax near the wick. The light is warm, and my bathroom becomes a magical temple of silence, relaxation, and blissful peace.

After such a soothing bath, it's time to practise yoga, meditate, sing a mantra, or read your favourite book. Then, make a delicious tea with lavender or tulsi tea. Let the magical word envelop your senses.

My Lipoedema sisters, get your mind and mood in spa mode.

Turn on some soothing music, light a few small candles, and relax as your legs thank you for everything you've done for them:)

With love, NvL
